Immigrants

CECI

The Calgary Employer Council for Immigrants was formed to respond to barriers that Calgary business faces when trying to recruit from the pool of professional/skilled immigrants who are in Calgary.

These barriers were revealed in the "Waste of Talent" report. The Council is comprised of executives of Companies representing key industries in Calgary, such as Oil and Gas, Financial Services, Manufacturing, Pipelines, the City of Calgary, Global Staffing, Post Secondary Education and Alberta Employment and Immigration.

The goal of the Council is to facilitate the full employment of professional/skilled immigrants in Calgary. Members know that Companies who went abroad to find skilled workers during the economic boom of 2007 and 2008 encountered long wait times and incurred high costs when workers with those skills may exist in Calgary.

The Council is working to close the gap between business and the pool of skilled immigrants in Calgary.
